The Odia Bride

With every step that the Oria bride takes towards the mandap, everyone can witness her cultural lineage from the way she shines. She adorns her look with her traditional jewellery such as Kaan ki Baali, intricate chandelier earrings made out of gold which symbolizes the wealth and status of a bride's family. Her Kada, which is a broad bangle covers her wrist, which is handed over to her during a Pooja, to invoke the blessings of Goddess for a blissful married life.

Kada

The Kada or the broad bangle covers the front of the wrist while the other thinner bangles are layered behind as part of the wedding ensemble. It is a common tradition for a barber’s wife to hand over the Kada to the Odia bride during the Dian Mangula Puja, symbolising humility. Crafted with intricate interlinked chains of gold on one end and rich engraved motifs on the other, the Kada is a symbol of prosperity and longevity to bless the married couple with.
